Scripture Verse: "...But those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint."
- Isaiah 40:31 (NIV)
Quote: The grace of God in Jesus Christ brings freedom. To experience this grace is liberation. Our chains, shackles, burdens—describe them how we will—are broken. We are delivered from a guilty conscience. We come to trust in Christ and are immediately released. Then we progressively enjoy that freedom. We are no longer in bondage. Instead, we are free men and women in Jesus Christ.

August 17, 2010 Webinar with Pastor Barry York on "Discipleship in the Local Congregation"
The next webinar for RPTS alums and friends is slated for Tuesday, August 17, at 3 p.m. EST, with Rev. Barry York (RPTS '91), Pastor of Sycamore Reformed Presbyterian Church in Kokomo, IN., on "Discipleship in the Local Congregation".
This webinar is the second of a 3-part series on the Great Commission from Matthew 28:18-20, and is related to "teach all nations" (KJV) or "make disciples of all the nations" (NAS). Release of "So Pastor, What's Your Point?"
Dr. Denny Prutow's book, So Pastor What's Your Point? will be made available in September. This book explains that force in preaching is born of solid preparation, passion, body language, and eye contact. In addition, you can begin to discern God's active application of His covenant Word to His covenant people. The vital principals taught here will be invaluable for those who not only preach but also teach God's word in various venues.

Bicentennial Digital Book Series Release for August
In celebration of the bicentennial of RPTS in 2010, each month we make available a digital copy of a rare book from our Library that is no longer in print, and which highlights doctrinal, pastoral, and evangelical emphases of the Seminary's denomination, the Reformed Presbyterian Church of North America. Most of these books are by people who served the RPCNA in their ministry and life.
THIS MONTH'S RELEASE: the Covenant Sworn and Subscribed by the Synod of the Reformed Presbyterian Church in North America at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 27th, 1871 and an accompanying Pastoral Letter.
From the begining of the Pastoral Letter:
"As a church we have always claimed, and do now claim, to be in covenant with God. But God is a covenant-keeping God and we are a covenant-breaking people; therefore, it is most necessary that, from generation to generation, and in the most solemn manner, and by repeated acts of renovation, a sense of the obligation of God's covenant upon ourselves and posterity to be frequently renewed. And was ever such a thing more necessary than just now?"

Thanks to RPTS Librarian, Tom Reid, and John Mitchell and Ralph Joseph with the RP Historical Archives (housed on the RPTS campus) for their work on making these documents available!
